Artificial Intelligence

Faubel successfully participates in the AI Innovation Competition of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

More than 130 consortia from science and industry have submitted their proposals for the innovation competition "Artificial Intelligence as a Driver of Socially Relevant Ecosystems" launched by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) .The Faubel Group was one of the applicants together with other partners of the "modular AI" project.  This project was selected among 35 proposals to work on the submitted idea during the competition phase which will be funded from April to September 2019.

Safe electronic systems

As a leading provider of functional labels, Faubel will define what AI requirements there are in the pharmaceutical, medical and logistics sectors and derive corresponding AI-based development processes. The findings will be posted on the modular AI platform to be used for developing functional and safe electronic systems. Faubel has been able to secure the following organizations as project partners: Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT, Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT, Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS and the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.

"We are very pleased with the support provided by the BMWi. It shows that the path we have chosen to push digital transformation forward in our company and products is relevant for the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries from a macroeconomic perspective. We believe in creating innovative healthcare applications that can help improve the healthcare system as such," Frank Jäger, Faubel's Managing Director explained. At the end of August 2019, the best implementation proposals will be presented to the public and rewarded accordingly. The implementation phase is due to last 36 months from the beginning of January 2020.

High-impact lighthouse projects

This competition is a major contribution towards the rapid implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Strategy devised by the Federal Government. "Our goal is to complete large, high-impact lighthouse projects in key areas of our economy. That's how we want to help take AI from theory to practice as fast as possible," Federal Minister Peter Altmaier said.
